A source from Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) told Lusa that,
at 07:05, a train travelling in the direction of Peso da Régua to Porto – São
Bento derailed “after having hit rocks.”
The derailment occurred in the Barqueiros area, Mesão Frio
municipality, Vila Real district.
The source also said that there were no injuries, only
material damage, with trains suspended between the Rede stations (Mesão Frio)
and Ermida (Baião, Porto district).
CP – Comboios de Portugal states that there will be a road
transfer on offer for passengers between the stations of Ermida and Peso a
Régua.
IP said that it immediately mobilized all means to the site
in order to trigger the re-railing process.
