The information was advanced by the national commander of the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection (ANEPC), in a situation report made this afternoon.

According to André Fernandes, the Armed Forces were asked to use high-pump modules for the Lisbon region, "to reinforce the operations that are underway to help with the rehabilitation of the affected areas".

According to the official, "in view of this situation, there was a need to reinforce this means, particularly in the district of Lisbon and the city of Lisbon", which is why, "early in the morning", a pumping group from Santarém, also from the Civil Protection special force, as well as a specific group from the district of Viseu "with a large capacity of high output pumps to assist in what is the restoration of normality" were deployed.
