According to reports, Bayer Leverkusen's Xabi Alonso and Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim are in the race to replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.

Last month, Klopp made it known that he will be leaving his position as Red’s manager at the end of the current campaign.

Even without considering that Liverpool leads the Premier League right now and is still in the running for the FA Cup and Europa League after defeating Chelsea 1-0 during extra time in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday, those are large shoes to fill.

If Liverpool were unable to get Alonso back to the team due to competition from Bayern Munich, another of his previous teams, Amorim has been noted as a desirable replacement.

While many Liverpool supporters are aware of Alonso from his playing days at Anfield and his amazing form leading Leverkusen to the top of the Bundesliga this season, many are less familiar with Amorim.

The next few months will be of interest to Amorim fans as he could be on the verge of becoming a coach for one of the biggest clubs in the world.
