The new board is to be chaired by Tiago Lopes Farias, with other directors named as Luís Barroso, António Pires, José Realinho de Matos and Maria Helena Campos.
The appointments were made because of the “change in political orientation” that foresees a greater role for local authorities in managing public transport services in their areas, and the annulment of concessions granted by the previous right-of-centre government to operate these services in Lisbon and Porto, the government said in a statement.
The Socialist Party had made clear before it came to power in November that it wanted to backtrack on the transport concessions.
