The competition is spread over three venues in Lagoa. This past weekend, Silves were crowned champions in the under 15 competition after beating Imortal of Albufeira by a solitary goal in a hard-fought final. Hosts Lagoa claimed third place after a 6-0 win over Benfica de Portimão.
The under-17’s tournament was won by Belenenses, who scored 26 goals and conceded only two en route to victory. The feat by the ‘Blues’ from Lisbon was even more remarkable considering their team was made up uniquely of under-15’s.
The Lagoa Cup draws to a conclusion this weekend (16 and 17 June), with players born between 2006 and 2009 taking to the field in the competition.
