The train drivers want the rules and regulations to be complied with and for the infrastructure manager to make sure that trains runs safely by using temporary warnings and signs.

The train drivers’ union also wants the rules and regulations to be applied in a standard fashion to all the rail passenger and freight companies to avoid them from falling out of step with differences in the drivers’ professional qualifications.

It also demands the end to hiring retired train drivers to provide services to the freight companies as there is a rule prohibiting train drivers aged over 65, though there are many still working aged 66.

Many trains were also cancelled on Monday because of a strike by the railway infrastructure manager workers demanding the same rights bas the train company workers.
