The Portuguese Met Office is forecasting lows to plummet well below zero, with some areas being told expect temperatures of minus degrees Celsius.
The worst of the cold weather will be experienced between Tuesday and Thursday.
Lisbon and Porto have also announced contingency measures to protect people from the cold, and have opened up Metro stations to accommodate the homeless.
Snow is also forecast for high-lying areas.
