Luís Araújo said that forecasts point to a drop in the pound following Brexit, leading British tourists to seek destinations outside of Europe.

Saying that Portugal has been targeting potential British tourists through the Brelcome campaign in the UK, the tourism chief added that Portugal was also looking to expand its presence in the US, Canada, Brazil and China.

Referring to campaign, Araújo said, “it has already targeted four million people in the UK through online channels”.

He also stressed “the reinforcement of staff resources at the Portuguese delegation in the UK, along with new training courses on other markets”.
