The Polish rider will start the 41st tour of the Algarve with the number one on his back and will see many Portuguese participants try to reverse a trend which has not seen a national rider win the event for nine years.

The first indications of how riders will perform will be on the 166.7-kilometre stretch between Lagos and Albufeira, with the start set for 10.50 this morning, and will end on Sunday in Vilamoura.
