In a statement, national airport management company ANA said the system will “allow all” to have easy access in dropping passengers off.
“Without congestion, for private individuals as well as public transport professionals, the experience of taking someone to the airport becomes more tranquil, more convenient and quicker”, ANA said.
The new drop-off option at Lisbon’s Humberto Delgado airport follows hot on the heels of the Algarve’s Faro airport, where the ‘Kiss & Fly’ system was introduced in May last year.
The so-called Kiss & Fly concept is in place at a number of international airports, including Gatwick, Heathrow, Paris, Chicago O’Hare and JFK among others. The system allows users to stop next to the terminal itself, but is heavily enforced to discourage repeated curbside use.
