These date back to 4.3 billion years, giving scientists an unprecedented glimpse into Earth’s early history during its very first ion, the Hedean, just a few hundred million years after it was formed 4.5 billion years ago.

Jonathan O’Neil, lead author of the study and professor of earth sciences at the University of Ottawa, stated this presents the opportunity to open a new window at a time when we have almost no record.
