St James Global has celebrated the launch of their new invitational golf trophy, with the first qualifying round being held at Vila Sol.

The event was held on 18 November for the members of Vila Sol Golf Club, with a total of 148 members taking part on the day which included prize opportunities, a raffle and the chance to play for donations to be made to the clubs chosen charity.

On the day, St James Global sponsored two holes, the 7th and the 13th hole of the course. On the 7th hole every person who was able to reach the green saw St James Global make a donation of €10 to the Vila Sol chosen charity of Akredita - a children’s charity/day centre in Quarteira, with the company then generously topping up the donations to a total of €500.

Phillip Ryan, the men’s captain of the club, was lucky enough to also have a hole-in-one, his first ever, on the hole and was the recipient of a Garmin golf watch for his efforts.

On the 13th hole there was a chance to win a Rolex, however it was Carla Archer who was nearest to the pin and although she was unable to take the top prize, she was rewarded for her achievements with an iPad donated by St James Global.

There will now be a further five qualifying rounds held between now and May before the final, that will see the top six winners plus a wild card of each of the days, entered into the grand final. Finalists will all be presented with a three course meal, St James Global sponsored golf attire and will enjoy a finals presentation supported by the company at the event to be held at Monte Rei Golf & Country Club on 22 May.

St James Global hopes that this will become an annual event for them in the Algarve as key sponsors, offering clubs a new and exciting competition that will also support the charity of the club’s choosing.
