Connecting the banks of Canelas to that of Alvarenga over a 516 metre span, the new tourist attraction in the Aveiro district is connected to the Passadiços do Paiva and is located 175 metres above the river, providing clear views in all directions of the landscape through metallic railings that makes up the floor of the bridge and its side rails.

The bridge will be open to all those over the age of six, with children up to the age of 17 and those over 65 paying €10 for a ticket and all others paying €12.

The mayor of Arouca, Margarida Belém, told Lusa that the ticket prices had not been set as a means to guarantee a quick financial return on the investment of €2.3 million which was used in the construction of the bridge, but to do justice to the “exclusive experience provided by the bridge, implanted in a valuable and protected natural territory”.

In April the new Ponte 516 Arouca can be visited between 9am and 7pm. Then, from May to September it will be open from 8am to 8pm, in October it will be open again from 9am to 7pm and from November to March it will be open only between 9am and 5pm.

Reservations and payment of tickets must be made online through the website www.516arouca.pt, where general information about the bridge is available.
