Guterres sworn in for second term

United Nations secretary-general António Guterres is today to be sworn in for his second term.

The former Portuguese Prime Minister takes oath today and takes office for a second term during a plenary session of the United Nations General Assembly, in New York, that will also be attended by Portugal’s President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.

Guterres’ denomination was unanimously approved by the 193 member states and will stay at the head of the UN until the end of 2026.
