In the heart of Portimão, PTM Downtown is a lovely restaurant located on the famous Rua das Lojas, a beautiful area where you can hang out before or after having your meal.

This fantastic restaurant has been open for a year and a half and has several dishes. Good for lunch or dinner (this is only over the weekend), breakfast, snacks and essentially for brunch - that's what this article is about.

Upon arriving at PTM Downtown, the first thing we noticed is how perfect the place is with a beautiful outdoor terrace to enjoy the sunshine and a cosy atmosphere inside for rainy days – it was love at first sight.

Regarding decoration, the furniture (tables, chairs, lampshades, etc.) is made of old furniture that has been revamped, giving the space a rustic, but also sustainable touch, as most of the items have been recycled. In fact, it's a place where sustainability is key!

In terms of hygiene, I must also say that at times like these, when people are really concerned about their health, you are able to see the chef and his team cooking through a window to the kitchen, a small detail that we really appreciated. In addition, all the tables have a large distance in between, which is good not only for keeping social distance, but also provides privacy for a private chat.

It’s time for brunch!

To begin the meal experience, we were offered welcome drinks, more specifically mimosa cocktails - in short, orange juice mixed with sparkling wine. At PTM Downtown, the orange juice is made from Algarve oranges, which gives a perfect flavour to these lovely drinks that I highly recommend to anyone who goes there.

Then we started our courses with quesadillas, which were the best quesadillas we've ever had, a taste I'd like to be able to reproduce at home. Also, they have two options - chicken quesadillas with shredded chicken with vegetables, caramelised onion and cheddar cheese and then the vegetarian option, both accompanied with Guacamole and Sweet Chilli sauce. An interesting and very good point about these quesadillas is that you can have the mix quesadillas (half chicken and half vegetarian) - for example, if you go with someone who is vegetarian, you can share the same dish.

Then, for the brunch main course, we got the eggs Benedict that Chef Karim kindly prepared for us. We tried the option with bacon and avocado, but there is also a dish with salmon and spinach. We just love the flavours involved in this flavoursome dish that we accompanied with perfect cocktails - a porn star martini and a cosmopolitan classic cocktail. However, if you want an alcohol-free option, they have natural nourished juices as well as homemade ice tea.

To round off our perfect brunch, the team served a lovely dessert - French toast with strawberries, grapes, kiwi, blackberries and walnuts as well as one scoop of ice cream - absolutely amazing! So, the best was yet to come, as we also got a cappuccino with coconut flavours and a latte macchiato with salted butter caramel notes.
