"easyJet airline, and airline Azores Airlines announce that, through 'Worldwide by easyJet', customers can now connect via Lisbon to São Miguel, Terceira, Faial, Pico and Santa Maria, as well as from Porto to São Miguel, Terceira and from Paris and Barcelona to São Miguel", reads a statement.

According to the airline, through the innovative platform of technology partner Dohop, customers can book connections to Azores Airlines flights on 'Worldwide by easyJet', as well as easyJet flights rerouted at easyJet.com/worldwide.

‘Worldwide by easyJet’ was “the first global air connection service by a European low-fare airline and offers connections through a digital and virtual hub – simply and efficiently”, they add.

Launched in September 2017, it allows customers to connect easyJet flights through London Gatwick to long-haul flights, with partner airlines WestJet and Norwegian, and "has been growing consistently, with over 5,000 unique origins and destinations booked in combination with partner airlines".

José Lopes, General Director of easyJet Portugal underlines the company's satisfaction "to work with Azores Airlines, in order to open access to new destinations for this summer and explore everything that the Azores islands have to offer”.

Also quoted in the same statement, Mário Chaves, commercial and operational manager of Azores Airlines, emphasises the “strategic importance” of the partnership, aiming to “strengthen the potential of the Azores Archipelago as a travel destination”.
