When agents asked him to stop the car he was driving, the man tried to escape, but was immediately intercepted. He was nervous when asked for identification.

In an official statement from the Public Security Police, it can be read that the agents on the ground, "after several investigations, found that the citizen was wanted in his country of origin for the fulfilment of a sentence of 10 years in prison for committing a crime of fraud".

The man was then arrested and brought before the Lisbon Court of Appeal. He was held in pre-trial detention and is awaiting extradition to Uzbekistan.
