Applications must be submitted on the Directorate-General for Higher Education (DGES) website, and the deadline is 4th of August.

For the next academic year, universities and polytechnic institutes have made 55,956 places available (643 more than last year) through the general admission system, which includes the national entrance exam and local entrance exams, for example, for arts programs.

For candidates from emigrant backgrounds, those of Portuguese descent, or those requesting to replace entrance exams with foreign exams, the deadline for submitting applications is July 28th.

Students will be able to choose from more than 1,100 options at 34 higher education institutions.

Results will be announced on August 24th, and candidates placed in the first phase have until 28 August to enrol.

The second phase runs from August 25th to September 3rd, with results announced on September 14th. The third phase runs from September 23rd to 25th, with results announced on October 1st.

To apply, students need an access password—which can be requested through the DGES website—and the ENES form, issued by the school, containing their final secondary school grade and entrance exam results.
