The iconic Pastéis de Belém store, which opened in 1837, is preparing for a historic renovation aimed at improving the experience for thousands of daily visitors.

The project includes a new store, which was already inaugurated in July, and a complete renovation of the main store, scheduled for January 2026.

According to MUST, the Viterbo Interior Design studio, led by Gracinha Viterbo, will be responsible for the entire renovation of the historic store. The designer stated that "it was an honour to work on this project, which carries unparalleled emotional and heritage value for the Portuguese and for those who visit Lisbon," the publication reads.

The new store, located next to the original store, was designed and created to expand service capacity, making customer service more seamless. According to MUST, Gracinha Viterbo's renovation respected the building's historic features and used high-quality materials, introducing subtle improvements such as improved lighting and harmonious integration with the traditional ambiance.
