The project aims to integrate sustainability, including green spaces, renewable energy, and climate-adapted urban planning. Authorities present New Tashkent as a way to modernise urban life while addressing pollution, congestion, and infrastructure strain in Tashkent.

Development is planned through 2045, making it one of Central Asia’s most ambitious urban projects. The city is framed as a regional model for sustainable development and international cooperation rather than a short-term housing fix, and the design is based on 15-minute-city principles, prioritising walkability, public transport, and reduced car dependency.
