Portugal’s one Michelin-star Largo do Paço restaurant was voted second best restaurant in Europe by voters on the European 50 best.com guide, which claims to be Europe’s largest website offering advice on bars and restaurants.
Voting is cast based on opinions from the site’s users who rate their favourite venues on various criteria, mainly quality/price.
According to Vitor Matos, Largo do Paço’s executive chef, “The classification obtained shows that we continue to provide excellent dishes and an expert service to our visitors. The complete satisfaction of our customers is always a constant concern of the whole team, which becomes evident in the recognition that customers give us, choosing us as the second best restaurant in Europe.”
According to the site, European 50 Best.com is “an online ultimate restaurant guide, based on a simple premise – that the shared opinions of thousands of avid consumers with real experiences are inherently more accurate than the opinions of critics.
“Through our website, we give people the power of a collective voice and the information to make smart decisions”, it says, adding: “The European 50 Best.com is now the European leading provider of consumer opinion-based information on where to eat and drink. In 2013 the nominee list covered more than 23 countries in Europe, and The European 50 Best.com brand is internationally respected as a symbol of quality.”
Beating Largo do Paço to take the top spot on the list – or the best restaurant in Europe according to European 50 Best.com – is the Spanish El Celler de Can Roca, with the Italian Osteria Francescana rounding off the top three in third.
