DGS asks not to postpone scheduled vaccines

The Director-General of Health has asked the Portuguese not to postpone vaccinations, namely for children up to 12 months, pregnant women or the chronically ill, as it is “absolutely essential to prevent” other outbreaks besides Covid -19.

“At a time when we have Covid-19, and to avoid crowding, it is preferable to schedule the vaccination. But, if it is not possible, do not delay, go in person to the health unit because they are providing protected and non-covid care”, said Graça Freitas at the daily press conference on the pandemic caused by the new coronavirus.

The official asked people not to “postpone vaccinations”, especially in children up to 12 months, who with national vaccines can be protected from diseases such as measles, rubella or severe forms of meningitis.
