This year's event - featuring poems and extracts from novels - is to be staged in the Colina de Santana area, in 15 different spaces including the Junta de Galicia centre, the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Lisbon’s Universidade Nova, the São Lazarus library, the Galeria Monumental and the Paço da Rainha.

The opening session is scheduled for 6pm, in the Carpintaria São Lázaro, with the Casa Fernando Pessoa as special guests, with the poets Golgona Anghel, José Luiz Tavares, Margarida Vale de Gato, Miguel Cardoso, Marta Chaves and Vasco Gato taking part.

Then, from 7pm to 11.30pm, the various readings will take place, each lasting 10 to 15 minutes, every half hour to give the public the possibility of attending as many as possible.

The European Literature Night is organised by EUNIC Portugal, the local branch of the European network of national cultural institutions, with support from the European Commission’s office in Portugal. It is being staged under the umbrella of the month-long Festas de Lisboa, in partnership with the city council’s cultural arm, EGEAC, and the parish of Arroios.
