In the course of a patrolling action, the military of the Nature and Environment Protection Service of the Detachment of Torres Vedras of the GNR detected a discharge of untreated wastewater to a tributary of the Sizandro River, a GNR source told the Lusa agency.

After several steps, the GNR military managed to identify its origin, a livestock, already identified and fined in November 2019 for the same type of procedure, the GNR said in a statement.

The discharge was motivated by "saturation of the lagoons due to rain", said the same source.

GNR applied an administrative offense for lack of a license to reject waste water for the water line, punishable by a fine of up to 144 thousand Euros, similar to what happened two months ago.

Infringements are reported to the Portuguese Environment Agency, which is responsible for instructing the process.
