League leaders FC Porto ran in six against Paços de Ferreira at the Estádio do Dragão with Ricardo Pereira getting the first after just three minutes.
The visitors drew level three minutes later through Welthon before Felipe restored Porto’s lead after a quarter-of-an-hour. Moussa Marega added two more before the break and it was game over. Second-half strikes from Corona (65') and Aboubakar (73') completed the rout.
Benfica have been struggling recently and the trip to lowly Desportivo das Aves was nothing other than a must-win for an under pressure Rui Vitoria. The Eagles broke the deadlock after Eduardo Salvio was brought down inside the box with Jonas ramming home the spot-kick.
Five minutes after the break Haris Seferovic tapped in Salvio’s hard-earned cutback before Rodrigo Defendi pulled a goal back for Aves in the seventy-sixth minute from a near-post header. Three minutes later Jonas, again from the spot, pulled Benfica further ahead to claim a 3-1 victory.
Last campaign Bas Dost was scoring goals at will for Sporting but this season his last league strike was in early September. That all changed as he unlocked the GD Chaves defence with a brace of goals in the first fifteen minutes of their game at the Alvalade.
The Dutch international then turned provider as his pinpoint pass split the Chaves defence for Gelson Martins to run on and square the ball for Marcos Acuña to tap-in. The Argentinean international added the fourth and his second shortly after the break.
Dost completed his fine performance with yet another hat-trick in a green and white shirt, heading home Piccini’s back-post cross in the seventy-fifth minute. In the final moments Davidson netted a consolation effort for the visitors.
SC Portimonense have had a chequered start on returning to the Primeira Liga but they must have thought they were on their way to the first away win of the season when they found themselves three goals to the good away at Vitória de Guimarães after just thirty minutes. Shoya (16'), Fabrício (19') and Pedro Sá (30') did the damage but the home side hit back before the interval through Rafael (37') and Raphinha (42').
The Portimão outfit held on until a minute from time when Raphinha got his second goal of the game to snatch a point for V.Guimarães. Portimonense entertain Vitória de Setúbal at the Municipal Stadium on Monday evening kick-off 8pm.
In the league standings FC Porto lead the way, two points ahead of Sporting and five clear of champions Benfica back in third.
