More than half of Coronavirus deaths are over 80’s

More than half of deaths associated with Covid-19 in Portugal are of people over 80, according to the bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS), which records 25 deaths in this age group.

DGS data, released on 25 March, indicates that 13 men and 12 women (58.1 percent of the total) aged over 80 have died so far in the country from the Coronavirus.
Between the ages of 70 and 79 the authorities recorded seven deaths (all men), the same number for the 60 to 69 age group.

The youngest patients to have died from Covid-19 were between 50 and 59 years old (three men and one woman).
