John Bainbridge, 79, went missing more than two months ago from his home in Odelouca, near Silves (Algarve), on 26 January.
This recent sighting, reported at the end of March, would place Mr. Bainbridge approximately 12 kilometres south of where he disappeared.
An observant member of the public believes they saw someone who could have been Mr. Bainbridge near the main República Square’s Park Café in central Portimão.
Police have yet to confirm whether the sighting is Mr. Bainbridge or not, but are now said to be concentrating their efforts on the Portimão area.
The missing man’s family have appealed to the public to keep looking for him all over Portugal and in Spain.
John Bainbridge is around 6 foot tall (1.80m), of slim build, may have grown a beard by now, and suffers from Alzheimer.
