In-keeping with the original series, the action takes place mainly in the Parish Hall, where the Parish Council meets weekly, and also in the Vicarage where Geraldine Granger, the new vicar, entertains a variety of odd but loveable characters. Her aim is to spread love throughout the community and finds it returned, sometimes with surprising results.
You will meet all your old friends from the television series beautifully interpreted by The Algarveans’ cast. You will meet Geraldine “babe with a bob cut and a magnificent bosom” Granger played by Angela Theobold; David ‘Sportin’ Horton played by Jim Landis; Hugo ‘Hot-dog’ Horton played by Rui Louzeiro and Letitia ‘Queen of cordon bleugh’ Cropley played by Jan Sheppeard.
Tracy Christiansen, who joined the group earlier this year, said: “I am really enjoying putting my professional skills as a vocal coach to use helping the Portuguese, Scottish and American cast members perfect their English accents.” She continued, “I can’t believe the commitment of the cast in getting their part to sound right in order to fit into the Oxfordshire village setting of Dibley”.
The audience will be taken on an hysterical journey; from Geraldine’s first arrival to … well, you will have to come and see the play to find out.
The Vicar of Dibley, sponsored by algarvehomesales.com, will be performed at the Lagoa Audi-torium on 28, 29 and 30 June, starting at 7.45pm.
Tickets, priced €12, are already available from the Box Office via the website – www.thealgarveans.com or you can telephone either 966 211 634 or 913 723 611. With the play already proving to be a hit The Algarveans are suggesting people book now in order to avoid disappointment.
