In the 14th such incident this year, a private jet arriving at Porto’s Sá Carneiro Airport from Paris on Sunday came within close proximity of a drone.
The altitude of the plane at the time was 150 metres, with the drone coming to within 50 metres of the aircraft.
Current legislation bans the use of drones close to airports and above an altitude of 120 metres.
I do not get it? Why are these flight machines not monitored and why are they even allowed to cross into commercial air space like airports. Who is using them? This could be a very real threat if one of these was adapted to carry an explosive and was sucked into an aircraft engine. We as passengers are screened, harassed, and forbidden to carry all kinds of things but drones can play in take off and landing air space?? There must be a way of shooting them down, disabling them or just locating where they are being operated from. To my way of thinking this is happening as a form of testing for something bigger. Making a law of how high a drone can go and them not enforcing it?? What is the point until it is too late.

It is impossible to shoot them, or track them. There is just no efficient way yet. You can purchase a drone from almost any shop today. It is just a dangerous hobby. Best drones do not take off near airports and have very good limiting options, but older ones don't have any. Only way is to ban them fully and if found from one, give ten years prison.
