This “incentive bonus”, said the same source to Lusa news agency, was the solution found by Auchan Retail Portugal to “recognise the daily effort of its employees” in this period marked by the outbreak of the new Coronavirus.
With about 9,000 employees, distributed across 64 physical stores and 29 petrol stations in Portugal, the retailer took this step after, in France, the country where Auchan is based, it was decided to deliver a bonus of €1,000 to each worker who continues to perform their duties.
This bonus of €1,000 came after the tax exemption decreed by the French Economy Minister, Bruno Le Maire, having been applied by other supermarket chains in the country, such as Carrefour, Intermarché and Kingfisher, said Efe on Monday, 23 March.
Such incentives, said the Spanish news agency, will also be applied by the multinational in Spain, Romania, Hungary and Luxembourg, with values defined “according to the legislation and social conditions” of each country.
