Investment in SNS allowed return of €6.8 billion to economy

Investment in Portugal’s National Health Service in 2020 allowed a return of 6.8 billion euros to the economy, taking into account the impact of healthcare on absenteeism and productivity.

This is the conclusion of a study by the Nova Information Management School (NOVA-IMS). Study coordinator Pedro Simões Coelho said "it's an impressive figure; it means that in a single year about half of the investment made in the NHS was immediately returned to society”.
