Keeping the Algarve on the 'high risk' list means that travellers without full vaccination against Covid-19 who visit the region are quarantined for 10 days on arrival in Germany. The isolation period can be reduced to five days if a negative test is given at the end of the fifth day.

On August 13, the German authorities removed Portugal, with the exception of the Lisbon Metropolitan Area and the Algarve, from the 'high risk' list.

Today they also took away the AML, but kept the Algarve.

As a rule, since the beginning of August, all travellers over the age of 12 who have not received both doses of covid-19 vaccine or have not been infected with the new coronavirus must test negative when entering Germany.

Travellers without full vaccination coming from one of the regions included in the 'high risk' list are subject to a ten-day quarantine, which can be reduced to five days with a negative test on the 5th day.

Germany has seen a moderate but steady increase in the incidence of Covid-19 cases since July.
