According to the INE report, "the unemployment rate stood at 6.4%, the same as the previous month, 0.2 pp [percentage points] less than three months earlier and 1.2 pp less than a year earlier".

The active population decreased by 0.2% compared to September and 0.3% compared to three months earlier, to 5.154 million people, having increased by 1.7% compared to the same month in 2020.

The employed population (4.822 million) decreased by 0.3% compared to September and 0.1% compared to July, having increased by 2.9% compared to October 2020.

According to INE, the unemployed population (331.6 thousand) increased 1.0% compared to September and decreased 2.4% compared to the three months before and 13.8% compared to the same month of the previous year.

The inactive population stood at 2.529 million, an increase compared to September 2021 (0.5%) and July of the same year (0.6%), having decreased compared to October 2020 (2.6% ), indicates the institute.
