Speaking in Velas, on the island of São Jorge, the social democrat who presides over the PSD/CDS-PP/PPM coalition executive, stressed that the Azores are “increasingly enhancing tourism of excellence”.
“[We want] to guarantee tourism of excellence, not only for the installed capacity to guarantee satisfaction to the demand, but also for boosting the demand through means of mobility to stimulate the offer in installed capacity”, he said.
However, he added, "always at a level of excellence, not with low prices."
“Not for mass production, but above all for excellence, quality and added value. Mobility helps to enhance this strategy”, said José Manuel Bolieiro.
On Wednesday, the Regional Statistics Service (SREA) revealed that overnight stays in tourist accommodation in the Azores tripled between January and April, compared to the same period last year, but remained below the values recorded in 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic.
