The Government of Madeira wants to attract “high-income foreign residents” from the eastern market to purchase houses in the archipelago, the head of the regional executive said, stressing that the real estate sector is “growing fast”.

“Our main objective is to continue to bring high-income foreign residents to Madeira, this means a multiplier effect on employment, it means that Madeira will increasingly become a cosmopolitan region, more open to the world, with residents with power that will move the entire economy and all sectors and parishes”, declared Miguel Albuquerque.

The president of the Regional Government (PSD/CDS-PP) was speaking at the inauguration of the new premises of PrediClub, a real estate company, in Funchal. “We want to try the Eastern market, which is a market with great potential and with great purchasing power”, said Miguel Albuquerque, without specifying specific countries and without indicating the strategy that will be developed.

He added that despite the focus on high-income foreign residents, the Regional Government will not neglect the “fundamental investments” in housing to guarantee the access of Madeiran families and young couples to “quality houses” at “decent prices”.
