Statistical data has been published in a 2021 panel on state aid measures adopted in the European Union to reduce the economic impacts due to the pandemic. According to the study, the amount corresponded to 72.9 percent of total public support that year, above the European average of 59.3 percent.

According to the report, all EU countries, including the UK despite Brexit, provided 384.33 billion euros to support the community during the pandemic in 2020, of which 227.97 billion euros were used to support businesses.
