According to the
low-cost airline, “these [routes] will drive tourism throughout the year to
Madeira, while improving the island’s connectivity with domestic routes to
Lisbon and Porto, while offering connections to Madeiran residents, with the
lowest rates”.
According to Ryanair,
the two aircraft based in Madeira for the winter of 2022 represent an investment
of 200 million dollars (about 205 million euros), resulting in more than 80
weekly flights and more than 500 jobs.
Furthermore, the
company states, that Ryanair’s base in Madeira represents a “commitment to
providing inbound traffic, tourism and local jobs throughout the year, while
improving vital connectivity for the island’s economy.”
Ryanair received more than 400 thousand euros from the Madeiran Regional Government and undisclosed benefits through the Madeira's airport operator ANA and still hasn't been providing Madeiran customers with much needed and important invoices. The Regional Government couldn't care less for the social aspect as usual.
