The minister was at Shannon Airport this morning to announce the new funds. The €17 million will be divided amongst Cork, Shannon, Ireland West (Knock), Donegal, and Kerry airports.

Cork Airport will receive €6 million, Shannon €4.6 million, Knock €5 million, Donegal €586 thousand, Kerry €420,000.

The funds were announced under the Regional Airports Programme 2021-2025 and will fund a number of projects at the airports concerning energy usage, utilities and facilities upgrades, airfield rehabilitation, and fire safety.

Speaking at Shannon Airport, Minister Chambers said that the increased passenger numbers at the airport so far this year “demonstrates the effective delivery of services, by the dedicated staff and management team who deliver for passengers on a daily basis, in meeting the extremely strong demand for international travel.

“I am delighted to announce this funding today,” he added.
