It is "an impairment rate of 8.5%", said the ministry supervised by Manuel Pizarro, stressing that it represents, one of the "lowest impairment rates at European level", thanks to the "combination of the great adherence of the Portuguese to vaccination” and “an efficient and responsible supply management”.

In theory, Portugal should receive more than 20 million doses of vaccines against Covid-19 this year, but it is expected that it will be possible to reduce the quantity and extend the delivery times of the vaccines. The ministry recalls that there is “an ongoing process” of renegotiating a contract signed in 2021, to be carried out by the European Commission, in order to “adjust it to the current epidemiological circumstances and vaccination strategies of each Member State”.
