At the same time last year, Ireland saw 1,476,600 passengers come into the country. The recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, when passenger numbers were just 69,400 in April 2021, is noticeable, as already this year the number has surpassed 2019 levels by 4.2%.

Among those arriving in Ireland, 1,676,600 of the passengers were airborne while 108,300 arrived by boat.

These numbers were mostly made up of British people, of who 634,500 arrived in Ireland in April. Besides that, the biggest influx came from Spain, a major Irish tourist destination, with 245,900 passengers coming from there over 2023’s fourth month.
