Bairro da Boavista, is located at the edge of the Monsanto Forest Park, and was inaugurated in the 1940s. Throughout the following decades the neighbourhood went through several phases of urbanisation.

In 2012 the neighbourhood was the target of a European project - ECO-Bairro - which aimed "the requalification and significant improvement of the energy efficiency of various buildings", reads a note from Gebalis.

"Now, after 10 years, Gebalis starts today with the Morar Melhor programme a new phase of conservation and rehabilitation interventions in Bairro da Boavista. Intending to continue the work then carried out, in order to maintain and increase the necessary optimisation of the environmental performance of the dwellings identified for the purpose in this municipal district, a total of 34 buildings and about 700 fractions will be intervened until 2026," indicates the company in the note.

The comfort and well-being of the community remains the main priority

The chairman of the board of directors of Gebalis stressed in the statement that "the well-being and housing comfort of the community is a priority", with the company and the Lisbon City Council committing to guarantee residents of municipal districts "an unquestionable quality of life in their daily lives".

Since the beginning of the month, the Morar Melhor programme has already begun to take effect in the neighbourhoods of Alfinetes, in Marvila, and Padre Cruz, in Carnide.

Also according to Gebalis, next week, the programme will arrive at João Nascimento Costa neighbourhood, in Beato.
