After years of talks, the Canadian government and the Inuit people of Nunatsiavut have come to an agreement to jointly manage a protected area surrounding the natives’ land.

The treaty exists to use modern and traditional knowledge of the species within the zone combined to best cater towards their preservation. A feasibility study is underway, expected to be ready in 2024/5.
