The Volkswagen group announced on September 20th that it would resume production on October 2nd, although with fewer shifts than usual, but bringing forward the resumption of activity by more than a month, which was initially planned for November 12th.

Autoeuropa brought forward the resumption of activity to today, after having guaranteed the supply of a fundamental part for the T-Roc, the only vehicle produced at the Palmela factory, in the district of Setúbal, with a Spanish and a Chinese company, thanks to work carried out by the German brand's logistics and purchasing departments.

The company was forced to announce a nine-week production stoppage, from September 11th to November 12th, due to the difficulties of a supplier in Slovenia, which was heavily affected by the floods that occurred in that country at the beginning of August.

At the time, the company assured, however, that it was looking for alternative solutions to resume production as soon as possible, as is now confirmed with the resumption of production anticipated from November 12th to this Monday.

Autoeuropa is a company with a major impact on the Portuguese economy and represents 1.5% of the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The production stoppage at the Palmela factory affected dozens of Portuguese suppliers, including several companies located in the Autoeuropa Industrial Park, which, in the meantime, have already announced the dismissal of 325 workers with precarious employment.
