According to APAL, these promotional actions include “presenting the destination to several dozen operators, agencies and the press” and are open to the participation of interested members.

“Associates interested in participating in this roadshow can also register, benefiting from special access conditions”.

The association recalls that this is not the first time that it will be present in this territory, but argues that this action gains greater relevance “taking into account the recent announcement that the North American airline United Airlines will have, precisely from May 2024, a new route between Faro and New York/Newark”.

“The new air connection has a frequency of four weekly flights, being the first route to connect the Algarve to the United States”, adds APAL, remembering that the USA is already the world's 2nd largest tourist market.

And also in Albufeira this market has been gaining importance. In 2022, overnight stays from tourists from the USA were already higher than those from Canada, growing from a total of 59,588 overnight stays in 2019 to 78,837 overnight stays last year.

“With around 20% of total overnight stays in the region, APAL believes that Albufeira can benefit from a market that is seen as emerging and with potential for strong growth, particularly outside the traditional summer season”, adds the statement released by APAL.
