The national winner of the '7 Wonders of Portugal' 2017, in the Rural Village category, is known as “the little Portuguese Tibet”, due to its “fabulous terraces”.

“Shaped over hundreds of years by human intervention, they are the town's shining feature and true symbols of the centuries-old coexistence between Man and Nature, creating a characteristic and unique landscape”, according to the municipality.
