The store, which will be the retailer's third in the Republic, is expected to generate fifty employees.

Decathlon's first Irish location debuted in Ballymun in 2020, and it added a second location in Limerick the previous year.

For the 2,500 square foot space in the famous Clerys building on O'Connell Street, Decathlon has negotiated a 30-year lease.

After Clerys department store closed its doors in 2015, the building underwent major renovations to create a mixed-use area with retail, office, and hospitality spaces.

The property will also house H&M, which is scheduled to open in March. It is anticipated that the new Decathlon shop would open in the middle of 2024.

The upscale company Flannels abandoned plans to launch its first store in the Republic there last year.

Dublin Town, the business representation organisation for the city centre, welcomed the announcement and stated that Decathlon will help the north side of the city even more.
