Algarve home to “Best beach in the world”

This year’s Tripadvisor “Travellers’ Choice” winning beach has ranked a beach in the Algarve as the best beach in the world.

The title “The best of the best of the Travelers’ Choice Awards” celebrates the highest level of excellence in travel. It is awarded to those who receive a high volume of reviews and opinions that exceed the Tripadvisor Community's expectations over a 12-month period.

In the 2024 edition, the title of “Best Beach” is in the Algarve: Praia da Falésia.

“Known for its impressive cliffs, golden sands and sparkling blue waters”, Falésia Beach was ahead of others such as Isola dei Conigli (Lampedusa, Donostia, Italy), La Concha Beach (Donostia, Spain), Ka'anapali (Maui, Hawaii), Grace Beach (Turks and Caicos Islands), Anse Lazio (Seychelles), Manly Beach (Sydney, Australia), Eagle Beach (Aruba), Siesta Beach (Florida, USA) or Varadero (Cuba).

Okay, which is it? Sixth best as reported in this publication on Feb 18, or "the best" as reported on Feb 26? Either way, as beautiful as the Portuguese beaches are, the water here is awfully cold compared to some of the other beaches mentioned. And what about the clean, Crystal waters and clean beaches of Costa Rica? The water there is warmer in the winter than in the Slgarve during the summer. I think the cold water of Portugal's water is its best kept secret. Brrrrrrr.

Why?, it is the most boring beach on Algarve- Tres Irmaos at Alvor leading onto Praia Grande is far more spectacular and many user facilities
