In a statement, the authority said that the regional secretary responsible for Tourism, Eduardo Jesus, met with representatives from Iberia at ITB, the largest travel fair in the world, in Berlin, Germany.

Quoted in the statement, Eduardo Jesus highlights that the company stated at the meeting that the summer operation is “perfectly consolidated” and expressed itself as “very satisfied with the demand that has existed for the various operations made available to the region”.

In the summer period, Madeira currently has direct air connections to Barcelona, ​​Málaga, Santiago de Compostela, Bilbao, Málaga and Valencia.

“From next July, the Spanish airline will start connecting Madeira to Seville, on another seasonal route. The connection will take place between July 9th and September 10th, 2024, on a total of 10 frequencies (one weekly flight on Tuesdays), corresponding to 1,000 seats”, reads the note.

Turismo da Madeira and Iberia have begun preparing the operation for next winter (October this year to March 2025), as well as negotiating a communication and promotion strategy for 'Destination Madeira' in the various origins of connections operated by the Spanish company.
