Based on the blockbusting film starring Whoopi Goldberg, the story follows Deloris van Cartier, a woman forced to hide out in a convent. There, in a tale full of hilarious and heartwarming twists and turns, she helps her fellow sisters find their voices as she rediscovers her own.

Gospel and disco music is written by Oscar and Tony award-winning composer Alan Menken. Lyrics are by Glenn Slater and the truly moving story is written by Cheri and Bill Steinkellner with additional book material by Douglas Carter Beane. Based on the Touchstone Pictures Motion Picture “Sister Act” written by Joseph Howard, this amateur production is presented by arrangement with Music Theatre International All authorised performance materials are also supplied by MTI.

Carmen Danen, show director, is looking to cast 5 female and 7 male principal actors plus ensemble. This show would suit various ages, backgrounds and singing abilities. The Algarveans performance dates are 14 to 17 November at the Lagoa Carlos do Carmo Auditorium.
