According to Ana Vaz Ferreira, vice-president of IPCB and project coordinator, this initiative marks a strategic step in the institution’s continuous commitment to pedagogical innovation. The lab will modernise teaching by leveraging technology and fostering collaboration among educators.

LIP.IPCB will serve as a support and reflection structure designed to promote innovative teaching practices and the development of digital educational resources. It seeks to encourage the creation of collaborative, innovative pedagogical tools and learning experiences while complementing existing institutional efforts, such as the REVUP project, which supports student success at IPCB.

The lab will be housed at IPCB’s School of Education, following the renovation of computer labs and the Vasco Silva Library. It will feature two main areas: a collaborative workspace and a multimedia zone equipped for producing videos, podcasts, videoconferences, and other creative educational content.

This initiative is part of IPCB’s broader project INOV3P – Centre of Excellence in Pedagogical Innovation. The INOV3P consortium includes 11 higher education institutions and is led by the University of Coimbra. Other members include ISCTE – University Institute of Lisbon, Universidade Aberta, and the polytechnic institutes of Coimbra, Viseu, Guarda, Santarém, and Tomar. Funded by the “Impulso Mais Digital” initiative under the sub-measure for Pedagogical Innovation and Modernisation in Higher Education, the project falls within the Portuguese Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), under the CEIP – INOV3P framework for excellence in pedagogy, project design, and promotion.
